The year doesn’t really feel like it gets going until Spring starts, do you notice that? We transition from Pisces season to Aries season, from slow and indirect to fast and “in your face” direct. Spring and Aries have a feeling of starting new things, new beginnings. Aries is ruled by Mars so watching Mars’ movements during Spring season is helpful to understand the energy of the season.
This year is unique in that we have the North Node in Aries which means the eclipses are occurring in Aries and its opposite sign Libra. Wherever Aries and Libra are in a chart, you can expect great changes, beginnings or endings because of the eclipses. In the U.S. the solar eclipse in Aries will be visible across the central and eastern part of the country. For the Aries season Mars will be in Aquarius and then Pisces. Mars in Aquarius is in a positive aspect to the Sun by sign and will lend a detached and intellectual mood to the season and by then will be done making any aspects to the other planets until it enters Pisces. Mars will enter and spend most of Aries season in Pisces, this lends a slower, meandering mood, albeit a frustrated version of meandering, since Mars is not comfortable in Pisces.
Once in Pisces Mars will make a conjunction to Saturn right after the eclipse so this conjunction has influence on the eclipse too. Any time these two planets come together they make news. They each, in their own way, initiate conflict about boundaries and limits. This energy will be a big part of the Aries season this year. One possible news event is more pirating in the seas.
Mars, a week later, makes positive aspects to Jupiter and Uranus. This will add optimism and create unexpected twist and turns in any plans. The Sun will move into Taurus during spring season and then Mars will go into Aries giving everyone that “charge” feeling to move ahead. Unfortunately, Mercury in Aries will be retrograde (4/1 to 4/25) this will likely create delays and unforeseen obstacles.
How do you use the energy of this Aries season? Be ready to make a change even if you can’t see the path ahead clearly. You may not be able to see where change will take you. It’s okay, Aries energy is used to this and it will help you have the courage to leap ahead. The solar eclipse is also a New Moon which always suggests new beginnings.
Remember, the energy of pushing ahead will be tempered by Mercury retrograde. New action will have a stop and go effect, the feeling to charge ahead will be strong, but know that momentum will come in May when Mercury is moving forward again in Aries. Just keep heading down the new path.
